Would hemalurgy on roshar require spikes to be made of gemstones?
RAFO.
Is the keyhole to the oathgate a spren? Shallan says it is the same material as a shard blade.
RAFO. (Sorry.)
Do you know the frequencies for the pure tones of Roshar, and if so, what are the frequencies for the pure tones of Roshar?
RAFO.
Can spren be affected by emotional Allomancy?
RAFO.
So who are the people of the sky?
From Sixth of the Dusk? The Ones Above. That I have not answered yet, but there are lots of good theories online about who it might be. But I'll give you a RAFO card.
He was asked if Adolin had been broken in a way that could make him become a radiant.
He RAFOed this.
Can Knights Radiant of one Order see the spren of someone from another Order?
RAFO.
How does Connection to a Shard actually work? 16 random people took 16 Shards in the past, I don't think all of them had special Connection to a certain Shard each of them picked. We even know that Ati, Ruin's Vessel, was a kind, generous man, direct opposition to Ruin's Intent.
However, in Mistborn we find out that you must gain certain amount of Connection to become a Shard Vessel. Kelsier wasn't Connected to Preservation well enough (he's more of Ruin), Sazed was somehow Connected to both Preservation and Ruin? So, should you be Connected to a Shard to Ascend? Why was it different in the past?
Also, what would happen if, theoretically Dalinar, a good, honorable man, kill Odium's Vessel and take a Shard for himself? Will he change Shard's Intent to something...let's say less destructive or Odium's intent will just devour his personality and he'll act just like Odium's current Vessel?
That's pretty big RAFO territory, I'm afraid. I'll just say that this is something I do intend to delve into in the books.
The whole Radiant/Light motif fits naming their Sprenblades 'Dawnshards'.
The term 'Shards' in-world have almost exclusively been in the context of Shardblades or Shardplate. I don't see why they would name a fabrial something in a way that breaks the pattern.
Y'know, if I'm right this wouldn't even really be a spoiler for Brandon to confirm. Maybe the main man u/mistborn could weigh in?
The nature of the Dawnshards will become (slightly) more clear as the series progresses. For now, RAFO.
The reveal at the end of The Bands of Mourning was just the biggest surprise ever. I held off reading Secret History... When I read Secret History, it feels like reading Hero of Ages all over again. It was so great... Kelsier, what it's going to mean.
You'll see, next book. RAFO card.
Are Trellism and Trelagism the same religion?
Uuhheha, that's a RAFO too.
Is it the same god in both?
Let's just say that… who Trell is and what happened is a matter of some interest in the cosmere and amusement to me.
Do Parshendi have gemhearts?
Excellent question. Which I will RAFO.
If someone used Hemalurgy to take someones Feruchemical abilities would they be able to use that persons personal metalminds? Most relevantly perhaps to take that person's knowledge from their copperminds?
Yes.
If someone stored their identity in an aluminium metalmind, then had their powers and metalminds stolen via Hemalurgy, then the person who took the powers used the aluminium metalmind to draw out the first persons identity would it permanently overwrite their personality with the original persons ? ( would kind of be a long winded way of stealing someone else's body and becoming immortal )
All Identity questions are a RAFO until I deal with it more in the books. (Sorry.)
If the spike granting Feruchemy were to be reforged/split into two distinct spikes which are then implanted into two different people, could those two people "share" a metalmind (as in actually be able to tap something the other stored and vice versa?).
It's complicated, but no.
There would be too much of the other person mixed in. Both could use the metalminds of the person the Feruchemy was stolen from, but when they made their own, their own Identity would "muddy" the creation.
Regarding the Trellium that Paalm was using. Before it was used for Hemalurgy, was that spike a uniform silvery color, or was it also rusty at the time?
RAFO!
Do the Allomantic and Feruchemic symbols for the metals have any extra meaning to them? More specifically, were they given those symbols on Scadrial for a reason?
As for the symbols, they go WAY back to before the Lord Ruler's ascension. So perhaps, perhaps not. (On other words, RAFO.) :)
So the color of the green chicken. In Sixth of the Dusk, there's a green and white Aviar and there's a green and red type of plume. Is green important?
I'll RAFO that.
Nale seems to be able to sense the Stormlight, even before she uses it, after she eats the roll. Is this an ability of him as a Surgebinder, a Herald, or something external he's doing or using?
RAFO!
When Shallan is telling the story about the girl and the wall, she said that her hair was white. Does that matter in any way?
Yes.
Are the Shinovars-- Shin people hair white?
They are not all white, but I'll RAFO the further question.
Could they use [Oathgates] to teleport to different galaxies?
That is what we call a RAFO, which means Read And Find Out. *laughter*
<What's going on> with Hoid's soul He's spiritually blind. Shardblades can't hurt him. Is it because his soul is not with him currently?
RAFO.
In the spirit of my obsession with Nalthis (please Nalthis novella please) - We know you can store Breath in highly Invested things without Awakening them. Can you store Breath in aluminum?
I'll RAFO Breath and aluminum for now.
Did Vasher seek the Nightwatcher?
RAFO.
Can a Parshendi with the right mind set transform with an Unmade?
RAFO.
Would there be a way that is reasonably feasible to use Aon Tia to teleport off-world?
Theoretically yes.
...Would there be a way to create it where instead of teleporting you directly there, it opens a portal?
We'll go ahead and start RAFOing at this point.
A nicrosil Feruchemist can store Investiture, could they potentially create something like a Shardblade?
All questions about storing Investiture are RAFOs for the foreseeable future. (Sorry.)
Do you want to build up Hoid to be a character like Randall Flagg?
RAFO
How did Preservation create the Terris prophecies in the first place, to make them known to people?
I'm gonna RAFO that, just because it gets really sticky when I have to explain this exactly, and I'm gonna shy away from that right now.
If Rysn's Dawnshard is about Change or Remaking or something like, how do we refer to it? The Dawnshard of Change? The Change Dawnshard? I am asking purely from a semantic standpoint.
I haven't honestly decided yet, Argent. I am playing with several themes for the Dawnshards even still.
It seemed from the way the mural was done in the book that you were implying that there are four Dawnshards, one for each four of the shards, considering the sun was split in four, then each quadrant was then further split into four more.
RAFO, I'm afraid. As I said somewhere else, this was written as it was deliberately--but also somewhat vague on purpose.
Are the pools at the top of the Horneater peaks shardpools?
RAFO.
Humans on Scadrial have Investiture of both Preservation and Ruin inside of them.
Yes.
Feruchemically, does storing Investiture in Nicrosil store this connection to Ruin/Preservation/Harmony?
You are on the right track, and asking the right questions but RAFO.
Has Mraize ever Ascended?
RAFO. So it's not a yes or no. It's a yes or no or other.
The assassin Liss. Have we seen her anywhere else?
RAFO. Sorry.
Is there an active application of investiture on Darkside?
RAFO
Which is your favorite Unmade?
RAFO. We'll see, I don't know if I have a favorite yet.
1)Would it be possible to invest a metal such as bendalloy so that it's "active" and create a time bubble? 2)Would an invested object creating a bubble move about the bubble like Wayne does inside his? Or would the bubble move with the invested object? 3)Wayne implies that it takes a couple seconds between dropping a time bubble and creating a new one. Is this a biologically related limit, or magically related limit? 4)Would more powerful allomancy/investment increase the size of the bubble, or change the time differential?
My theory is that if someone created a large bubble that sped up time inside of it (so time outside seems slower) You would cross the bubble faster than light would cross the same difference outside of it. Of course the journey would take the same time inside as it would without the bubble which would mean the need for a generation ship. To compensate someone could then create a smaller pocket of slowed down time (cadmium) which would cancel the sped up time and create a normal time flow. This would allow living humans to experience the same flow of time as someone on scardial itself while the ship still travels are FTL speeds. If the bubbles traveled with the ship then there wouldn't be any additional strain the structure. If the bubbles couldn't travel with the ship but if the time it takes to create a new bubble could be overcome you could theoretically turn on/off the bubble maker at a very high frequency to allow the bubble to be re centered with the traveling ship.
So I'm curious if my theory is feasible?
You've got some serious RAFOS in there, I'm afraid, but let's see what I can answer.
First, I'd love to have your contact info through my website for running calculations. We've got some people, like Eric, who know their stuff--but having more physicists to help out is important when I start figuring things like red shift and what not.
As for the other questions, I'm digging out answers for you, where i can. Might take me a little longer, though.
What is the color of Autonomy's Shard, on Taldain?
RAFO. Good question.
If a Shard's Vessel dies and drops a body and two people step in to take up the power, what would happen?
RAFO
Because of Glys' corrupted nature as a spren of Sja-anat, does that mean that Renarin's swearing different Ideals than the mainstream Truthwatcher ideals?
Um... I'll RAFO that for now. But there will definitely be some differences.
Have we seen Dalinar at his prime yet? I mean, in terms of his Radiant powers. Have we already seen everything he can do with it or he will become more and more powerful as his Oaths progress further? (please, let it be the second!)
RAFO.
Kwaan might have understood realmatic theory.
In the chapter 19 epigraph for the final empire, the author of the journal says "When we first met, he was studying one of his ridiculous interests in the great Khlenni library - I believe he was trying to determine whether or not trees could think."
I wonder if that means he was looking into trees have a cognitive aspect. It seemed weird to me the first time I read it, but knowing what I know about the Cosmere and Sanderson loving worldbuilding, I feel like that's what this was about.
Was pre-ascension scadrial cosmere aware?
The OP's theory is correct. The rest is a RAFO.
I know in Shadesmar, Syl has a physical form when they go there. Has there ever been, in the history of Shardbearers, any romance there?
...I will RAFO that for now. It is a question I have asked.
What caused the Sel earthquake? Could it be the fall of a Shard? Ambition? Will we see the Ire again?
RAFO on all!
What would happen if Nightblood and a Shardblade hit each other?
RAFO.
Can a person holding a shard voluntarily give up the shard? Vin gave it up by killing herself, but could Harmony/Sazed just decide to quit?
I will answer this eventually in the books. So a RAFO with a promise that you will actually get the FO part.
I noticed in Oathbringer the scene where Ash shows up as the washerwoman. Her description reminded me a lot of Khriss. Did Khriss have any personal relationships with Heralds?
I'll RAFO that. Khriss has been around for a while, and the Heralds have been around for a while.
And then on Elantris, does the Shaod take one 1/16th of the people? *spoken over*
Oooo, good question. *brief interruption* It does not.
It does not.
No.
What is the method or the process of choosing there?
Uh, that is a RAFO.
If a non-Windrunner Surgebinder (who had spoken all the Ideals of their Radiant Order) summoned Jezrien's Honorblade, what color eyes would they get? A blend? Different colors for each eye?
:) I'm going to RAFO eye color questions for the moment. We'll actually be dealing with some of these in the books. Maybe not the specific ones you ask, but the concepts in general.
Is Shardplate immune/resistant to regular lighting or just that of stormform?
RAFO.
Is Hoid going to be Jasnah's Wit?
RAFO
On Threnody is there more than one metal that affects Shades?
Technically a RAFO.
