Is Rial a worldhopper?
RAFO. RAFO. RAFO.
Who is Kelsier's noble dad?
Kelsier's dad is a secret.
What was Paalm doing during Era 1?
I will answer that someday, so I'm going to RAFO it for now.
Has Odium used the weapon created by Adonalsium's opposition?
Has who? Odium?
Has Odium--
Odium, has Odium? That's a RAFO.
The mushrooms on Threnody... What's up with them? They were described as glowing in a similar way to the rat skulls if I recall correctly? Is this some form of Investiture or am I reading into 1 line too much?
RAFO.
In Oathbringer, Taravangian tells Dalinar that there is metal falling from the sky, anything more on that?
The rainfall on Roshar is full of elements; and metal is not maybe not 100% accurate. But crem, that solidifies, comes down with the rain water.
He says that's what they were using to make half-shards.
Oh, you're talking about that! I'll RAFO that for now.
In Well of Ascension, Zane: how and when did he get spiked?
That is an excellent question. That someday I will answer, but not right now.
If we spike a Soulbearer with some Metallic ability, what happens to the Hemalurgical charge of the spike if the ability is stored completely in nicrosil at the time?
RAFO
When Jasnah says she should've opened a pit, does she mean a chasm or a kind of Androl, Wheel of Time, kind of thing?
Androl, Wheel of Time, what do you mean by that?
When he opens a gateway? What does she mean by pit?
Ha. *evil smirk* I'll RAFO that right now.
Will Dalinar get Shardplate once he swears his Fourth Ideal? Or Bondsmiths don’t have Plates?
RAFO. :)
In the Cosmere, as space becomes more developed...*inaudible* outer space.
It's an interesting question that I've had to ponder. Would the space race happen more slowly because there's an alternative, or would it happen more quickly because you know other planets are inhabited. I'm not going to answer what I came up with, because it's a plot point in the books. So I'll give you a RAFO card, but that's the question to ask yourself.
That wasn't my question! My question was, in the Cognitive Realm, with the gap between planets...
Oh! Will the gap between planets get larger as more people travel in between it. So, barring things like space stations, there's going to be so few minds in between, that I don't expect space to become larger because of that.
I don't expect it to be a factor, except--barring--there will be possibilities of certain regions popping up.
Are we going to see compounding of aluminum?
You'll get a RAFO.
Does Shai become a worldhopper in The Emperor's Soul?
Not in the actual book The Emperor's Soul.
But in the future?
*silence*
RAFO?
How did Vasher/Zahel and Nightblood get separated?
Uh, how they got separated is part of the story and so it will come up, that's a RAFO.
We'll eventually find out though?
You will eventually find out, that is a part of the story that is relevant.
On a related note, does Endowment personally know the purpose of each Returned, or does he/she just know that they have a purpose without knowing the specifics of what the purpose is?
RAFO, I'm afraid.
How exactly, Realmatically, is it tracked- like [for example] Aon Aon with these swirls and lines means "Arelon"?
I'm not gonna' explain that yet; I can explain how the shape is, but the whole relationship between the Aons and the magic and the landscape-
*Draws out/describes AonAon like in the book*
We also know that Taldain is not natural, the placement, tidally locked. It can happen naturally but it is not natural for it. You also said it was done by somebody, was it Autonomy or was it Adonalsium?
RAFO.
Is the third Bondsmith in any way related to the Sleepless?
I am RAFOing third Bondsmith. You will find out a lot more about these in coming books. That one's seeded for the story to answer, and it's not next book, right? This is stuff for… yeah.
Sak, Dusk's non-native Aviar. That ability is very, very similar to Allomantic electrum.
It is!
And his other Aviar is very, very similar to Allomantic copper.
It is.
Is there a connection between those two, deeper? Or is it--
will RAFO that. Let's just say it is an intentional reference, but I'm not going to say whether it's a direct connection to Scadrial magic systems or more that fundamental rules of magics can reproduce one another. We have seen multiple instances of Lightweaving, so-- It's one of those two... That at least narrows it down for you.
You've mentioned in the past aluminum savants being able to somewhat heal their spiritweb, healing them of the cracks, sort of healing them of Allomancy. Could a chromium savant do this to other people, kind of like in the Avatar [The Last Airbender] finale where he seals bending?
I will say RAFO, but I will say you're theorizing along correct directions.
So. Mistborn in Space. Sixth of Dusk...
Lot of people are wondering about that and I'm not answering that.
In the ancient religion with Trell, the god, he had a brother Nalt. Is Nalt in any relation to Nalthis, the planet?
Hehe, that’s a good question. Hmmm. I’m going to RAFO that for now.
Was the black mist spirit that Alendi saw Preservation or Ruin? Which one?
RAFO!
Could a Brass twinborn compound to effectively be a human flamethrower? Also can a compounder store faster?
RAFO!
Is Shardplate also made up of spren or is it different?
You get a RAFO card. It means you’re asking a good question but I’m not going to answer it.
What order was Alakavish?
RAFO. I may get to that. I may not, but I'll RAFO it for now.
Before his departure in [The Way of Kings] and his return in a future book, does he stay on Roshar only?
Good question. RAFO.
Could a double-nicrosil Twinborn compound Breath or Stormlight?
Uh, you’re getting a RAFO card on that. You're getting SUCH a RAFO card on that!
Well, in Elantris, we saw two people get in the Shardpool, right? We saw Riino, who we later saw in Oathbringer, and we saw Saolin- the warrior. Will we see him again? Like, will we see a cameo?
It is possible that you will, but I will have to RAFO it. You'll have to wait to see.
How can everyone tap nicrosil without being a nicrosil Ferring? Is that a Read And Find Out?
That's kind of a Read And Find Out.
I assume the next book, probably?
We'll dig into that.
The many faces of Cusicesh, are they of real people?
RAFO.
Hey, Brandon, is there any chance you could tell us something about Nightblood? I'd definitely love to know more about it/him/her.
Also, I recently went through the Warbreaker annotations and found the part where you mentioned that had Lightsong not done what he did, the Hallandren would have been destroyed by the Idris in another Manywar, with the latter having obtained Awakened blades from Yesteel.
Did Yesteel gain the ability to create Awakened swords from Shashara's own research, or did he discover it independently?
These are questions that I intend to answer in future books, I'm afraid. So RAFO. (sorry.)
Could Rysn "use" her Command power and change change the nature of a Shard (e.g. make Odium not evil)
Can the Dawnshards be combined a la Ruin and Preservation?
And on a scale of power who would win: someone welding a Shard of Adolnasium or a Dawnshard? Does it depend of the SoA?
Nikli referred to Adonalsium as "it" and not "him" or "her". Was Adonalsium a being or a general force?
RAFOs all around!
It's mentioned that Stormlight in gems will flicker slightly. Is this the Rhythm of Honor?
Good question, RAFO.
What's the Allomantic effect of any one god metal besides atium and lerasium?
RAFO.
Are we going to go to the Horneater Peaks in Stormlight 4?
RAFO.
All your novels are tied together by an overarching magic system, and we usualy see evidence of this in the form of the too-still pools of water. However we did not see any such bodies of water directly in Warbreaker. Is there such a pool in Warbreaker? Is that where the Tears of Edgli grow?
Wow. I've got some very perceptive readers.
This is speculation that I will neither confirm nor deny.
Can all spren imprint on someone—like Syl has with Kaladin—or is this ability special to certain types of spren? (I just got a mental picture of a flamespren taking notice of the pyromaniac noble girl from the castle market exercise in your JordanCon talk. Not sure that would end well.)
It is special to certain types of spren. There you go, a non-RAFO.
About Hoid...
Yes.
Is he a sand master?
Hoid? You will have to read and find out in White Sand! I'm not gonna answer that.
1) What is the name for a Tineye/Archivist Twinborn?
2) How would copper compounding work for a double copper Twinborn? Would you relive the memories stored in the burned copperminds extra vividly?
1) I'm not ready to open the floodgates for giving names to each twinborn combination yet. So RAFO.
2) Another RAFO here. I'll delve into these ideas when/if I do this combination in a book series.
In [Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell], the Evil that destroyed the Homeland, was that Odium killing a Shard?
RAFO.
Is Endowment blind to the words spoken by Awakeners? Is he blind to art?
RAFO.
In Hero of Ages, is Durn a worldhopper, Spook's beggar friend who has the perfect disguise?
I'll RAFO that.
Did Davriel "kill" himself under controlled conditions so he could bamboozle a demonic contract, or was that a result of something going wrong?
I'm going to RAFO that--as it's something I'd like to reveal in a later story, if I have a chance to do one.
We’ve seen the Cognitive Realm now on Roshar with the spheres and Scadrial with the mists. So what does it look like on Nalthis and Sel?
Uh that is a big fat RAFO.
If the Stormfather were to turn into a blade for Dalinar, would it be bigger than other Shardblades?
Um… That's a RAFO. *people get excited* That doesn't mean that I'm going to answer it, that means that answering it would either canonize something I don't want to canonize or it would mean that it is something irrelevant and I don't want to send fans spiraling into-- and so... It doesn't necessarily mean that something that will be included in the books.
So alternatively, is Shinovar the way it is as a result of Cultivation's influence in any way?
You will find out answers to why Shinovar is the way it is.
Is duralumin easier, harder, or the same to Push on allomantically as, say, tin?
I'm going to start moving into "RAFO almost everything" mode here, unfortunately, as (with the weekend over) I need to be getting into the ending of the book itself. Some of the questions, though not yours, are getting very detailed and I need to scale back on answers for now. (Sorry.)
Is Jaddeth a Dawnshard?
*singing* RAFO...
Adonalsium was 'killed' and split by the 16 who would eventually become shards, so that means there was an original holder of the power, and could their name have been Adonal?
This is a good question...that will be covered in the Dragonsteel series, when I get to it. (Sorry.)
