Is Shardplate immune/resistant to regular lighting or just that of stormform?
Does the Shard of Autonomy have a paired Shard (like Ruin/Preservation or…Cultivation/Preservation)? I was thinking that Unity would work as the opposition of Autonomy, though we don’t even know what Unity is.
The Expanse of Broken Sky, is that Sel?
Can a Parshendi with the right mind set transform with an Unmade?
Does the Everstorm deposit crem? If so, is it the same as highstorm crem?
How many Allomantic metals are there? Does each god have their own set of sixteen and does harmony have his own set of sixteen?
That is a big ol' RAFO.
Could a double-nicrosil Twinborn compound Breath or Stormlight?
Uh, you’re getting a RAFO card on that. You're getting SUCH a RAFO card on that!
My question is, if you had two nicrosil Mistings, who, feeling like breaking the universe, and they got together and they touched each other and advanced each other's magic power at the same time by flaring nicrosil, what would happen? Would it cause a feedback loop?
*hands RAFO card* Well I'll go ahead and give you one right there! You got one!
Hi. Our question is Cosmere. It's, knowing that Odium destroys whomever may become a menace for him, then is it possible that the Knight Radiant broke their vows not to attract his attention over Roshar?
RAFO. Why the Knights Radiant broke their bonds is something I RAFO, because it is an important, big plot element of the series.
So Nightblood. Is it going to go into maybe in the next book how Vasher loses him, because I'm assuming that's what [Szeth] gets at the end of the book?
Oh you assume that this is uh yeah...
So far as we know that's the only sentient sword...
You will find answers to these questions eventually.
I envision the Bondsmiths as, like, walking catapult. Is that viable, or is it different?
You'll have to wait and see. We'll RAFO that.
The capital 'u' in Unity at the end of Oathbringer, is that important?
I've heard it is possible to be a Radiant of two orders - it would depend on spren and ideals, and may be difficult to handle, but is theoretically possible. How about being a Willshaper and an Edgedancer at the same time? Could that work?
I'll have to RAFO that, I'm afraid.
Did Adonalsium have more than one Vessel?
If Dalinar summoned his perpendicularity during a highstorm, while the perpendicularity was open, would the areas that the highstorm was over not have spheres become Invested/full of Stormlight?
Got a little atium question:
If it's a god metal, and the power is actually coming from the metal, does it have added investiture that makes it harder to push or pull than the same amount of iron?
Or does the iron have an equal amount of investiture, but the investiture that makes it up is half-preservation and half-ruin, so it's 'inert' (so the power making up the iron never gets touched)?
And I guess in general, if all the metals on Scadrial are composed of preservation+ruin power, are they slightly harder to push or pull than metals mined from a random asteroid that's been sitting there untouched?
So if you burn duralumin at the same time as the metal that speeds up time, meaning stuff flows faster outside, would you basically warp into the future a long ways?
That's an excellent question.
I'm so sure! I'm so sure…
And I am not going to answer that question yet, because I don't... Because you are asking questions that they are going to be trying to answer in like five more books. So telling you right now would give spoilers for books way too far ahead in the future.
Gavilar's black sphere. What was inside of it and how many does he have?
Well, it is what you think it is. And he had-- yeah... He had access to several. Did we canonize this Karen?
No, we haven't canonized it. I'm going to say RAFO on the number, but it is what you think it is and what the third book implies that it is.
Has Odium used the weapon created by Adonalsium's opposition?
Has who? Odium?
Odium, has Odium? That's a RAFO.
In Secret History, Fuzz mentions having buried something. That's the atium, right?
So, I was just thinking, if it's something of greater import, I'll just leave it to that it's not the atium. But it's something else, I think. But, I was just thinking, if he wanted to hide something, he could build a planet around it? Because he built a planet. I'm guessing, if I asked a question about that...
You would get RAFOd. Excellent question.
What do Harrier's Lenses from Alcatraz do?
RAFO. That's a RAFO because I am not in that brainspace right now.
So we know that aluminum resists Investiture or blocks Investiture in some cases. Does it act like radiation protection like lead or something that actually gets deteriorated while it's resisting something or is it like, does it just interfere?
RAFO, good question.
Kids in Stormlight; we have Oroden, we have Gavinor, we have Sah’s daughter Vai, we have Taravangian’s grandkids, plus the little orphan that Kheni and Cob have. How old are these kids going to be at the end of Stormlight 10?
Before his departure in [The Way of Kings] and his return in a future book, does he stay on Roshar only?
Good question. RAFO.
Are the Knights Radiant's powers/spren derived from both Honor and Cultivation? As it seems each order has a has a power of nature e.g. light gravity etc
If yes, what powers would Odium give the Knights Radiants, if he where forced to empower them? And would there be any additional oaths they would need to swear to use these powers?
Everything in the books is alluding to Damnation and the Tranquiline Halls being one and the same. Is this true or is it more separate countries in the same landmass? And what is the general landscape of this alternate dimension?
These questions stray into RAFO type territory, which I try not to delve too deeply into on twitter. (Because of the short space I have to reply.) But there are some hints in the links [SandersonArmy] included...
When Odium said "we killed you" to Dalinar, was he referring to Adonalsium? Was he referring to Honor?
When we have an unkeyed metalmind and then we also store a keyed charge in it, which one would get tapped first?
I'll RAFO that.
So are there Four Dawnshards that each split into four more Dawnshards? Or just four? Are there 16 Shards and 16 Dawnshards?
This is intentionally vague, I'm afraid. (Sorry.)
What is the gem cut that holds the most Stormlight, and does it vary from gem to gem?
It does vary from gem to gem, and... I've got this written down somewhere... I am going RAFO, because it's more of a "go to my notes and find out."
How about the general number of years Warbreaker is from [The Hero of Ages] and [The Alloy of Law/The Way of Kings]?
RAFO - the reason that timeline questions are being RAFOed right now is because the final times are still not 100% solid, and Brandon said that he doesn't want to give us a time and then have it change around again (like what happened to [The Alloy of Law] being moved to the same time as [The Way of Kings] instead of being a bit earlier), so he won't answer any timeline questions until after he has the final timeline correct in his own system.
Would Hemalurgy work on an AI?
I think the Ghostbloods and the Set are related?
I will RAFO that; but I will give you a card.
In Nalthis, when is Breath first bestowed upon a person?
When is Breath first bestowed? Um, so I went-- Oh, so you're getting at this sort of-- I got it. *laughter/pauses* So, are you saying is it at birth or conception?
Pretty much. I'm just wondering *audio obscured by laughter*
I'm wondering if mothers have autonomy over their own bodies when it comes to Breath?
Yes. Uh, I'm going to go ahead and RAFO that one for-- Let's just let it-- Let's let-- Let's let the fanbase discuss that one and come to their own decisions.
Is there only one perpendicularity on a planet per Shard Invested there, or can say Scadrial have more than two (natural) at a time? (Old School Scadrial when there were two separate shards)
Did Ambition ever have a Shardworld of their own?
[Repeats question] Meaning, did Ambition ever settle on a planet? I’ll RAFO that too.
Has [Tarah's] dad been onscreen in the books?
Do we know his name?
My other question has to do with the honorblade in Words of Radiance, Syl thinks they are a monstrosity, is that because the Heralds broke their oaths?
You will have to find out. But-- Yeah that's a RAFO, but you might-- there are certain lines regarding that that people have misinterpreted before.
Lore question. Did <which gem> *inaudible* get swapped?
Ha ha. RAFO. Sorry. Good question.
I'm imagining that killing a Dawnshard would work similarly to killing a Shard? As in, depending on how they're killed the Dawnshard either "drops" or is splintered?
If Gretgor, (1st Wyrn's sword) exists, who has it now?
In the Cosmere, as space becomes more developed...*inaudible* outer space.
It's an interesting question that I've had to ponder. Would the space race happen more slowly because there's an alternative, or would it happen more quickly because you know other planets are inhabited. I'm not going to answer what I came up with, because it's a plot point in the books. So I'll give you a RAFO card, but that's the question to ask yourself.
That wasn't my question! My question was, in the Cognitive Realm, with the gap between planets...
Oh! Will the gap between planets get larger as more people travel in between it. So, barring things like space stations, there's going to be so few minds in between, that I don't expect space to become larger because of that.
I don't expect it to be a factor, except--barring--there will be possibilities of certain regions popping up.
Is Invention involved in Roshar?
RAFO. (You probably knew that was coming.)
Was the reason Radiants could safely break oaths before the Recreance, without resulting in deadeyes, because the Bondsmith broke the bond for them?
RAFO! Good question!
Regarding Vasher... what was his name before he Returned?
That is a RAFO, but just a minor one... Vasher's past is a factor in Nightblood the book, and so I'm staying away from all answers about that.
We're aware by now of eight of the sixteen Shards (Devotion, Dominion, Ruin, Preservation, Endowment, Honor, Odium and Cultivation) and seven of the ten core Shardworlds (the Dragonsteel world, Roshar, Scadrial, Nalthis, Sel, the White Sand world and The Silence Divine world). Given that you now how we love to obsessively speculate based on only the tiniest of information, and also given that it seems an endless source of amusement to you that we do, would you perhaps like to tease us with a smidgen of information about one of the remaining eight Shards or the three remaining Shardworlds?
Ha. If I give you this, what will you speculate on in the future? :) I hate to do this, but I'm going to RAFO that one for now. Sorry.
When will we learn more about the Cognitive Anomaly on Nalthis?
Is Chiri-Chiri's kind descended from Yolen dragons?
Everybody talks about steel-steel twinborns. A big topic of discussion. What I'm thinking about, I haven't seen anybody ask, what happens when somebody who's tapping speed, does a steelpush, does the steelpush react in realtime or accelerated time? And the object-- is it like a railgun?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm surprised that no one's asked me that before. This gets really dangerous really fast... It's RAFO territory, but you are thinking along the right lines.
