Does the Shard Odium seek to separate things, much like the Shard Honor seeks to bind things together?
An interesting theory.
If I used a Hemalurgic spike charged with Allomantic powers on a person on say Nalthis, will the focus of Allomancy change because the power is being used on another planet?
RAFO.
What is the definition of Investiture?
RAFO. Investiture is off the table as far as questions go.
So on theoryland there are a couple of WoBs regarding Selish Shadesmar and the ones that stuck out to me were how Rosharan Shadesmar is aligned with Roshar georaphically (and in turn, the other planets are too) and with the name of Sel's shadesmar expanse.
So my question/assumption is...Given the above geographical alignment and sometimes inverse nature of Shadesmar, is the Expanse of the Broken Sky Sel?
I'm not going to confirm what any of these are, I'm afraid. (At least not yet.) You are free to theorize as you wish.
Is there anything you can tell me about the Deeper Ones?
About what?
The Deeper Ones?
No, unfortunately. If I write the Threnody novel, they will be involved a great deal, how about that?
What do Harrier's Lenses from Alcatraz do?
RAFO. That's a RAFO because I am not in that brainspace right now.
In an interview, you said you thought you had canonized someone as a Sliver in Rhythm of War but then realized you didn't. Who is this character?
RAFO.
Are all the kinds of intelligent spren seen in the Shadesmar chapters capable of forming Nahel bonds?
RAFO.
Seems like Taravangian asked for the capacity to do two different things from Nightwatcher as his Boon, and got two different things in return, am I reading that right?
RAFO, I'm afraid.
Are the quartz and iron in Szeth's oathstone specific to Szeth's in particular, or to oathstones in general?
I'll RAFO that.
What Command did Vivenna use to Awaken her blade?
RAFO.
Are the Shardholders gonna get into a fight at some point? Are you allowed to answer that?
That is Read And Find out.
Did Ambition ever have a Shardworld of their own?
[Repeats question] Meaning, did Ambition ever settle on a planet? I’ll RAFO that too.
How many spren does it take to form a full suit of Shardplate?
That's making assumptions that we're gonna RAFO. Nice try!
Is Szeth bound to his Oathstone by anything but honor (not the Shard. No loopholes here ;) )?
RAFO.
Does the Expanse of the Broken Sky refer to Taldain?
RAFO.
How long has Khriss been cosmere-aware?
RAFO.
Does Hemalurgy require intent to steal the stuff? Or could somebody in theory just stab through in the exact-- I understand the chances are extremely slim, it's like accupuncture ...happen by accident?
Here's the thing, you've seen it happen without the intent of the person holding the spike.
But I think it's commonly accepted that Ruin was sort of manipulating some-- I'm specifically taking the Spook example off the table, I'm just saying, someone by accident stab - whoops! stab - whoops! and have a power?
Again, Ruin was involved in that. Every spike-- spiking that you saw had Ruin's intent behind it. I'm not going to answer your question, RAFO. You tried, you got me to admit that I was trying to wiggle around it, and I will tell you, today I wiggled around one question that none of you saw me wiggle around, really well, today. Today. I'm not going to tell you which one it is but there is one here that you all thought, you're all like "woo!" but you didn't realize you'd given me so much wiggle room.
So about that space station.
It's not that one.
Is the kandra worldhopper MeLaan?
Good question. *hands Newan a RAFO card* In upcoming Mistborn books, you are going to get to know a lot more of the kandra, so you will have a lot more options.
If Lift went to Nalthis and got Breaths. Could she then eat the local food and turn it around and use it to Awaken?
RAFO.
My question was going to be: I want to ask how Vasher got separated from Nightblood. But that's been RAFO'd.
That has been RAFO'd.
So I want to ask: ...How did Nale get Nightblood?
That's also part of the RAFO of how he lost it. You can-- No I'm not going to go there.
It seemed like from the story there is a strong connection between the larkin and the ancient lanceryn. Would you be willing to answer whether these are the same species by two names or if there is some evolutionary step between them?
I was a tad vague on purpose, but you're looking at it the right way. It's KIND OF the same species.
Like a pokemon evolution? Most Larkin are charmanders, Chiri-Chiri is a charmeleon, lanceryn are charizard?
Have to RAFO it from here out. I'll get into it eventually, don't worry.
So, you read the prologue, does that imply that the guy with the rings, the steward with the rings - are those Feruchemical rings? Or am I gonna get RAFO'd?
You are gonna get RAFO'd so fast. You are gonna get RAFO'd so fast. Sooo fast.
What's Hoid's real name?
That's a good one; RAFO.
Could an AI bond a spren?
RAFO
What was the relationship between Skai and Aona prior?
That’s a RAFO.
If Hoid were to hold an unsheathed Nightblood, would he feel sick?
*Loud laughing* RAFO.
Speculated that I thought that at one time the Parshendi had used Odium spren or Unmade, and they must have finally divested themselves of the spren and that’s why they forgot how to get a lot of the spren forms. And they were trying to figure that out and things have taken a turn for the worse.
We know that all in Cosmere have three aspects. So Adonalsium have three aspects as well?
RAFO.
Does Trell hold a Shard that we have seen in other books?
You're assuming Trell holds a Shard. And I'm not answering that one, but you can have a RAFO. Nice try.
Insert Cultivation's Vessel's name here.
RAFO
Has Nohadon been a Dawnshard in the past? (my guess is maybe he has and now it’s stored inside The Way of Kings, or jumped to Dalinar from there, would explain the Nohadon dream and the warmth he feels and Unite Them)
Bonus second question: is the ardent Pai actually the Herald Paliah? Other than the name similarity, the other ardent remarks on the name being weird, she’s obsessed with showing the world “The Truth” about Aesudan, and the Taravangian interlude in that same block swears by Pali’s mind, which seems a bit suspicious as it’s an uncommon curse.
Good question on Nohadon, and a RAFO to boot. :)
Actually, both questions are RAFOs. If you ever meet me in person, be sure to demand a card!
Since Shallan has a unique ability of memory from her blended surges, is fighting what Kaladin has?
No. His unique ability is "strength of squires".
And Jasnah?
RAFO.
Shardplate thus far has been powered by Stormlight in the spheres. But after-- now that we've got Radiants, is it powered by themselves?
*adds something about "spren" but is spoken over by Brandon*
Well so far we have not seen Radiants wearing Shardplate.
Yeah, I was kind of wondering that myself, 'cause-- 'cause they're not spren, because the spren were the... Shards [Shardblades]. So what <are> they?
So, that's a big ol' "what really is Shardplate?" *hands RAFO card*
In the Ars Arcanum of The Way of Kings, next to the Essences are listed ten Body Focuses. Are these Body Focuses the focus (in cosmere terms) of Surgebinding?
RAFO. :)
Since Teft is dead, may he rest in peace, could you tell us what his fourth Ideal would have been if he had spoken it before Vyre killed him?
Hmmm... Fourth Ideal for Teft. I would like to give that more thought, rather than be on the spot for it here, so it's a RAFO, but not a promise that I'll answer you. There are things I would want to consider before I answer that. It's a great question. That's the one I'm saddest not to be able to answer, but I don't think I can answer that on the spot, while I'm doing other things right now. It deserves more consideration than an off the cuff answer.
Have we seen the world mirrored by the Expanse of Broken Sky?
*long grunting and contemplation* I’m not answering that, I am not answering that.
Wax's earring is now gone, would you mind sharing what Allomantic charge it had?
Um, eventually.
During the course of Oathbringer, and not counting what happens towards the end of the book, are all nine [Unmade] active in the world again (no longer imprisoned)?
RAFO.
In one of the death sentence things it says something like three of sixteen ruled, but now the broken one reigns. Is this referring to the Shards on Roshar and if so, is the broken one Odium?
RAFO.
Will Dalinar become the next holder of Honor.
Hahahaha, yeah-- RAFO.
Two questions about the mechanics--well, actually, a bunch of questions--would a Shard's magic change if they moved to a different world?
That's a RAFO.
Probably a RAFO question but why does Syl have an aversion to shard equipment? Is it something inherited from Kaladin's interaction with shardbearers?
RAFO. (You'll will find out eventually.)
Did Hoid play a part in introducing Stormlight to humanity as told in The Girl Who Looked Up?
RAFO, I'm afraid.
Trell's been Investing in Scadrial, he's interacting there. Is he doing anything or will he do anything to influence a new magic system there... How much would a Shard have to do to get to that point?
RAFO.
Opening a perpendicularity. Is that a Bondsmith power or just something special Dalinar did for other reasons?
Yeah, we will RAFO that.
In Words of Radiance, there's a fragment that says that the Bondsmiths have a power that none of the other Orders have.
That will be answered in a future book... *discussion on RAFOs* Basically, each of the Orders actually had their own quirks and individual things. Some of them were more dramatic than others. But if you watch through, you'll be seeing that they kind of have some different effects that aren't related necessarily to the Surges.
So, then follow-up question, the reason that the Bondsmiths don't get Shards is because they have that extra power?
The reason is because the Stormfather is particularly-- how he is. And he's more cantankerous than he was, even in the past...
Each of the Orders, I wanted to have a lot of individuality. I didn't want them to all just be different copy-clones. You'll also find that they also have very different philosophies on even things like honor and what is good and things like that.
In Oathbringer Cultivation calls Dalinar Son of Honor and Son of Odium. Why? Does he Connected to both Shards and technically can be a Vessel for Odium.
Also, why Cultivation says it'd be good for her to have a part of Dalinar inside of her? Is it important?
This is partially RAFO territory, but let's just say that Cultivation takes the long view on someone--and to her, Dalinar represents both the the best and worst of both Honor and Odium.
Would Wax recognize the female Skybreaker Lift sees in Edgedancer?
RAFO.
So, at the end of [Oathbringer], a certain Shard says "we killed you." Is "you" Adonalsium there? Or is that a [RAFO]?
That's a big RAFO!
